Cline Center: Public Engagement: 2007 Lincoln Symposium: The U.S. and China in the 21st CenturyThe Inaugural 2007 Lincoln Symposium: The U.S. and China in the 21st Century
The first annual Lincoln Symposium was held on December 3rd, 2007 at the University Club of Chicago.
The rapid emergence of China as a world power is almost unprecedented in modern history. Considering that the implications of China’s rapid emergence for the U.S. are both profound and complex, the Cline Center for Democracy decided to inaugurate its Lincoln Symposium series with a one day event focusing on this topic. The conference dealt with diplomatic, economic and legal issues. The program’s speakers were drawn from both China and the US; they included a diverse, respected and distinguished group of government officials, corporate CEO’s, lawyers and public intellectuals.
